Fix a problem
Nearly every problem comes down to the surface, the cup or the ring. Work through the steps before you contact us, because most take less than a minute.
1
The suction cup won’t hold, or lets go after a while
Why it happens: the cup holds by vacuum, so any dust, oil, air gap or texture lets air leak in. Dashboards often carry invisible protectant spray, and the gel on the cup picks up lint every time it’s set down.
- Clean the spot with a little rubbing alcohol, and let it dry.
- Wash the cup itself: rinse the gel under lukewarm water or wipe it with a damp cloth. Don’t use soap or paper towel, which leave residue and fibres. Let it air dry face up. The tack comes back once it’s dry.
- Press the cup down firmly so it sits flat, then twist the collar all the way to TIGHT while still pressing.
- On glass or the back of a car screen, the cup goes straight on. On the dashboard, always stick down the included pad first and mount on that.
2
My phone slides or drops off the magnet
Why it happens: the magnet needs steel or another magnet right behind it. MagSafe iPhones have one built in. Other phones, and most cases, don’t, and every millimetre of case weakens the pull.
- Use the magnetic ring that comes in the box. Peel its protective film off completely first.
- Stick the ring onto whichever surface touches the mount: straight onto the back of the phone if you use it without a case, or onto the outside of the case if you use one.
- Centre the ring where the head will sit, press hard for 30 seconds, and wait 24 hours before driving with it so the adhesive cures.
- Thick cases, wallet cases, grips and pop sockets sit between the magnet and the phone. Remove them, or put the ring on top of them.
3
It feels light. Is it strong enough?
Why it happens: it’s light on purpose. The suction cup carries the weight of the phone plus the weight of the mount itself. A heavy mount pulls on its own seal over every bump and in the heat, so keeping the mount light leaves more of the grip for your phone.
- The magnet is an N52 neodymium ring. A large phone weighs around half a pound.
- For big phones such as a Pro Max or Ultra, keep the head lower and closer to the base. A shorter lever puts less strain on the seal.
- If it still wobbles, check the cup first (issue 1). The vacuum is almost always the weak point.
4
The head droops or the hinge feels loose
Why it happens: the hinges are friction joints held by small screws, and they can settle after shipping or heavy use.
- Tighten the hinge screws a quarter turn with a small hex key. Don’t overtighten, or the head won’t adjust.
- Set the angle you want before you attach the phone, not while the phone is on it.
5
I can’t get it off, or I’m not sure how the collar works
Why it happens: the collar locks the suction. TIGHT pulls the cup down. OPEN releases it.
- To fit it: press the cup down, then twist the collar towards TIGHT until it stops.
- To remove it: twist the collar to OPEN, then lift the small tab at the front edge of the cup to let air in. Never pull it off by the head.
6
It won’t fit my car
Why it happens: it’s made for flat surfaces, not vents or curved or textured dashboards.
- Try the windscreen. Glass gives the strongest hold. Check local rules on where you’re allowed to mount things on a windscreen.
- Try a flat console surface, or the glossy trim around the screen.
- Check the fit before you use it. An incompatible surface isn’t a defect, and unused mounts can be returned within 14 days (return policy).
7
It leaves a ring mark on the dash
Why it happens: the gel lifts a little dust and protectant spray off the surface, and that shows as a faint circle.
- Wipe the mark with a damp microfibre cloth. It comes off.
- Cleaning the spot before you mount it prevents the mark in the first place.
